Statement
Drawing is everything. My work pulls influence from my interests in cartoons and comics. I find myself constantly observing things around me and analyzing them. This analysis allows me to see drawings not only as a way of recording but as a way of expressing internal thoughts.
I believe you’re at your most creative when you’re truly relaxed and working with large skill drawings allow my mind to wander into new ideas. I begin these large strong spontaneously and with a clear mind I lose myself within the works which allows for shifts in scale and change in perspectives these drawings are normally done with technical pens, brush pen, or conventional brushes. Ink is also the quickest medium for laying out my ideas to maintain that spontaneity within the creative process.
I believe being an observer is crucial for my work and the way I observe is through cultural lenses that is document through my sketchbook. Through these documentation I’m not just observing my environment, but myself and my current emotions during those times. My sketchbook work are more introspective that I develop into drypoint prints. This allows for my affinity with drawing spill into printmaking and offers an additional way of presenting to audiences.
Overall, my practice explores my imaginative representation of the world around me. The content within the work draws from my experiences and daily observations.
